For that, it is best to uninstall it first, if you have an uninstaller on your install disk (the software bundle disk). If the program still does not work for that user only, some more detective work may be needed.Īs for the case where the program won't work for ANY user, you may need to consider reinstalling the software. If the program works, then trash those files/folders that you moved and you are done. Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings (a folder)Ĭom. (a file) If the problem is user-specific (works for users except for one user), then I suggest you move the following three files out of that user's Preferences folder to a safe location, restart, then try the program again: If you have only one user, please create a new one and then try Photoshop Elements. To figure out if this a problem with the computer-wide installation or rather a local user-specific problem, try running the program from another user. Right now, both version are running on 3 machines under 10.6.8, so I think yours should work also! We need to find out how. We actually have purchased separate copies of Elements 3 and 6 over the years due to having it on multiple machines. Which is why I am perplexed about your experience, but maybe something is different about Element 4 versus 3. It was originally installed on the old iMac G5 PPC (10.5.8) I still use from time to time (like right now), and has survived being migrated to an iMac Intel C2D (upgraded to 10.6.8) 4 years later followed by migration to the Macbook Air (10.6.8). That software bundle disk is exactly how my daughter got her Photoshop Elements 3 originally (with a Wacom tablet, still in use). I'll let you know how I made out w/the updates when I get some rest and give things a go tomorrow morning. Not sure if it makes a difference or not that the Photoshop 4.0 was in a bundle for a piece of hardware I got, or if it was a stand alone version was purchased separately - as far as operating properly? Just updating the drivers was not enough I had to do a full setup, initialization, including the step that Canon calls "registering" (which has nothing to do with registering a serial number with Canon, it is a setup step that allows computers on the network to properly access the device). I have a Canon MP8120 printer/scanner (which is a wireless print/scan device) and after it was installed and fully working, whenever I upgraded a computer (one from 10.4 to 10.5 one from 10.5 to 10.6) I had to go through the full device setup and install from the original Canon CD, for the upgraded computer, following all Canon's steps precisely in exact order, to get the print AND scan functions all working properly. On the issue of the Canon MP640, I do have a specific suggestion for you to get that back up and fully functional.
